The hotel is conveniently located close to the Humble Administrator's Garden, allowing easy access to this popular attraction. It is also situated in an alleyway, providing a more authentic and immersive experience of the old city. being close to the subway makes it convenient for those who prefer to use public transport.
The staff's proficiency in English may be limited, which can pose a challenge for communication.

We had a fantastic stay at this historic hotel, which used to be a rich man's mansion in the old days. The Suzhou-style architecture and Chinese gardens added an authentic touch. The location was superb, situated in the heart of the old city. It was just a short walk from the subway station, making it convenient for exploring this charming town. Additionally, the hotel's cleanliness was impeccable, and the staff provided excellent service.
Nothing not to love.

This is a most special place. The rooms are decorated in a chinese style with genuine old world charm, set in slightly overgrown courtyards. The lobby is spectacular and could be in a chinese museum. Its not the Ritz, but then they are all the same, so where is the fun in that! Right on the edge of the old canal district, we could not have hoped for a better location. Breakfast was chinese and reasonable.
The breakfast room lacked the charm of the rest of the hotel.

The atmosphere of the hotel was lovely. my mother was delighted with the furniture and style of the rooms. it made a truly unique Suzhou experience for us. and was located on such a beautiful canal, perfect for early morning strolls and cafes.
It seems a silly thing to dislike on vacation, but i do enjoy watching a little TV before bed and even though the hotel advertised satellite and cable tv there was only one english news channel. being so close to shanghai i was hoping for at least an english movie channel. but we just went to bed early instead which was probably better anyway :)

The historical ambience of the hotel was truly special. It felt like a privilege to stay in such a unique and historic place. the room was beautifully furnished with antique furniture, adding to the cozy and charming atmosphere. the location of the hotel was superb. It was right by the canal, providing a picturesque setting and a peaceful ambiance. Being able to have breakfast outside by the canal, surrounded by the sound of birds singing, was a delightful experience.

It is located at Pingjiang street
Despite the location is at Pingjiang street, the hotel is not very accessible from the main road. Hotel staff were not helpful when we requested them to arrange a transportation to send us to the train station. Finally we found the contact from a guidebook on our own and made our own arrangement. Also, hotel restaurant staff repeatedly tried to chase us away when we were given permission to use Wifi there by reception. The bedsheets were a little dusty as the buildings are old and dirts tend to fall from the roof.

The beauty of the decor of the Shikumen. The lodge is well situated in downtown.
The hotel was not welcoming, the staff was not too helpful, aside from the fact that they didn't speak much English. The rooms are very stuffy, and there's a bad smell in them due to very old and dirty carpets- you can't open a window because of the mosquitos. The TVs in both rooms did not work.

This hotel is a hidden gem tucked away in an alleyway, just a stone's throw from the major tourist district. The service here is top-notch, with friendly and helpful staff always going out of their way to assist. The room amenities are impressive, from the well-stocked mini-bar to the comfortable sitting area. The toiletries provided are of high quality, and the electric kettle is a convenient touch. The flat-screen TV and AM/FM alarm clock are added bonuses. The dining options are excellent, with a wide variety of delicious dishes to choose from. The Wi-Fi connection is reliable, and the flat-screen TV provides entertainment options. this place offers enhanced comfort and quality services, making it a perfect choice for a luxurious stay.
I highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

Room is clean and spacious. Location is excellent with walking distance to shopping area and the busy area of Suzhou. Staff are friendly and service is good. Many small restaurants, traditional tea house/ cafe shops nearby.
Except the water pressure in bathroom is a bit slow.

The location of this hotel is perfect for exploring the old city of Suzhou. It is right on one of the canals and within walking distance to excellent restaurants, a teahouse, and the main local Buddhist temple. The hotel has a charming traditional atmosphere with Ming-style furniture and a beautiful garden. the staff, despite limited English skills, were always eager to help and accommodate our needs.
The rooms could use better illumination as they tend to be a bit dark. The chairs and desks were not the most comfortable, which made it a bit inconvenient for working.

Great touring advice from front desk staff Ms Anna! Very well layed rooms with a touch of old days Chinese way of life, still with good standard amenities.
The "restaurant" accross the street belonging to Pingjiang Lodge lacks acceptable service standards and actual menu choices and is largely overpriced... Pingjiang Lodge would actually benefit from splitting their name from this "restaurant"!
